A standoff is a duel you start at a group of enemies, cutting each attacker down as he charges.
- Finish the sensei tale Guns and Consequences in Oshima Coast for the Tanzutsu pistol. Matchlock Murata's workshop is at the mouth of the Karatsu River.
- At Altars of Reflection, buy Revenge > Attacks > Standoff Streak, then Standoff Unlock: Pistol, which shows once you have the first and the pistol. Each altar you pray at (swipe down on Touchpad) gives one skill point.
- Approach a group until the Standoff prompt shows at the bottom of the screen, then press L1.
- Hold and let go when the first enemy attacks. Press when the second attacks. Press R1 to fire the pistol when the third attacks.
The group outside the entrance of Ishikari Castle in Ishikari Plain offers a standoff. Once that is cleared, use any Yotei Six camp, or the groups of riders in Yotei Grasslands.
Watch out
If you mistime it, reload the last checkpoint and try the same group again.
