Privacy policy

Last updated 22 October 2026.

TrophyTracker is an app and a website for PlayStation trophy hunters, made by Lasse Ott Kartin in Denmark, who is responsible for your data (the data controller). Questions or requests: privacy@trophytracker.app.

The short version

  • We never sell your data. The app shows no ads and doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
  • Your PlayStation Network sign-in stays on your device, and so do your trophies, unless you turn on a feature that needs them on our server. We never receive your PSN password.
  • We store your data in the EU.
  • An account is optional. You need one only to vote and contribute, and you can delete it at any time.
  • We count how the app and the website are used, without knowing who you are.

The app

Your PlayStation Network data

You sign in to PlayStation Network inside the app. Your PSN sign-in is kept in your iPhone's Keychain, and the app reads your games, trophies and profile directly from Sony and keeps them on your device. The app talks to our server about PSN only in these cases:

  • Finding a game's guides. The app sends the PlayStation title IDs of the games in your library (not your trophies) so our server can tell it which of its games they are.
  • A game we don't have yet. The app sends the game's ID and your PSN account number. Our server then reads the game's trophy list from Sony itself, and keeps the account number it was read through with the game.
  • Using your PSN name as your username, only when you choose to. The app sends your PSN sign-in to our server once; our server asks Sony whose it is, keeps your PSN account number and name (and the link to your PSN picture if you choose that too) and never stores the sign-in itself.

Features you choose

Some features may need your games and trophies on our server, such as rankings or suggestions for games you'd likely enjoy, based on what you play. They're optional: we'll ask before turning one on and say what it uses, and turning it off deletes what it stored.

Your notes and progress

Checklist ticks, counters, notes, the games you track and your settings sync between your devices through your own iCloud account (Apple's private database). We cannot see them.

Images and videos

Game art and trophy icons in the app load from Sony's image servers, and guide videos from YouTube: a still image from Google's servers, and YouTube's player once you tap it, where YouTube's own privacy policy applies. Like any website, these services see your device's IP address.

Photos you contribute

Before you send a photo, the app looks at it on your device with Apple's built-in image recognition and warns you if it doesn't look like it's from a game. What it recognised (labels such as "screenshot") is sent with the photo, which is uploaded only when you send it and looked at by a moderator before anyone else sees it.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple. We never receive your payment details.

Your TrophyTracker account

An account is optional. If you make one, we keep:

  • Your username, which you choose and cannot change, and your email address (from Apple, Google or you; Apple's Hide My Email addresses work too).
  • How you sign in: a passkey's public key (its private key never leaves your device), or the user ID Apple or Google give us. Your PSN account number and name if you linked them, and the link to your PSN picture if you chose it.
  • The devices you're signed in on: a name such as "TrophyTracker on iPhone" or "Safari on Mac", and when each signed in and was last used.
  • If you turn on an authenticator app on the website: its secret, encrypted, and your recovery codes, stored only in a form we cannot read back.
  • Your role (for example moderator).

Contributions (guides, checklists, counters, photos, votes and corrections) are stored with your username and the version of the app or browser that sent them, reviewed by a moderator, and once approved shown to everyone. Votes are not shown with a name.

Email. We email you sign-in codes and links, and a code to confirm an address you give us. Nothing else: no newsletters, no marketing.

Deleting your account. In the app, Settings → TrophyTracker → Delete Account (or on the website, under Your account). Your account, its ways of signing in and its sessions are deleted at once. Approved contributions stay, so other hunters keep the guides, but no longer carry your name. If you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to end TrophyTracker's access to your Apple Account.

Usage statistics

We count how the app and the website are used, for example how many people open the app each day or which pages are read, and which countries visitors come from (in the app, from the region set on the device, not its location). When you're signed in to a TrophyTracker account, the app also reports once a day which games were played recently and which are tracked, so we can show the most popular games; we keep only that your account reported that day, not what it named, and only until the day is over. These counts don't identify you: they're not linked to your account, use no cookies or lasting device identifiers, and aren't combined with other data. Apple also gives us totals such as downloads, from people who chose to share them with app developers.

Keeping things safe

To stop abuse, our server uses your IP address to limit how often requests can be made (kept for one day) and to pause sign-in after repeated wrong codes (kept until a day after the last one). It also records which features are used and how fast they answer, never who used them. Our hosting providers keep their usual server logs.

Ads and cookies on the website

The website keeps your display and spoiler choices in cookies on your device (for a year), and, while you are signed in, a cookie that keeps you signed in. Analytics use no cookies.

The website may show ads. Ads that use cookies or similar technology to choose what you see, or to measure them, appear only once you've agreed to that, and you can change your mind at any time. The app shows no ads.

Where your data is, and who helps us

We store your data in the EU. A few companies help us run TrophyTracker: hosting for our server and the website, email delivery, and usage statistics. They handle your data only on our behalf and under the GDPR. The website is delivered through a worldwide network, from the data centre nearest you, so a visit from outside the EU, or a request routed through one, can pass through a data centre outside the EU; where data leaves the EU, it's protected by the safeguards the GDPR requires.

Apple (iCloud, Sign in with Apple, the App Store), Google (Sign in with Google) and Sony (PlayStation Network) provide the services you choose to use with TrophyTracker; their own privacy policies apply to those.

Why we may use your data

To give you what you ask for: your account, your contributions and the PSN features (the GDPR's "contract" basis). To keep the service safe and to understand, without knowing who you are, how it is used (our "legitimate interests"). With your consent: ads on the website that use cookies, and the optional features above. We never sell your data.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, take it with you, or object to how we use it. Write to privacy@trophytracker.app. You can also complain to a data protection authority.

Children

TrophyTracker isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly make accounts for them.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too, and we'll mention significant changes in the app.
