Kill the Spider Matriarch before her eggs hatch - why do they have so many legs?

The Spider Matriarch lives in the Whispering Depths, the caves under the Blighted Village in Act 1. Go down the village well. The trick is to destroy all her eggs before the fight starts:

Give one character boots that stop webs from holding you. A pair lies in a heavy chest in an alcove in the south of the depths. Getting caught in a web alerts the spiders.
Put the whole party into stealth above the matriarch's lair.
With that one character, destroy the three clusters of eggs from a distance while staying hidden: one on the floor in the south by a rock pillar, one on the north rock platform and one on the north edge of the west platform. Alchemist's Fire works well.
With every egg gone, start the fight and kill her.

Watch out

Save before the last cluster on the west platform, the riskiest one. Being spotted starts the fight early, so reload and try again.
