Aberrant Strength is the number that measures Dylan's power. Every Aberrant upgrade raises it: the skills of the Primary and Secondary Forms (your two weapon types) and the Combo Finishers, including forms you are not using. You buy them at the upgrade station in the Gap (the hub you enter by holding ) with materials and Source, the game's money. The top ones also need Living Shards, which Resonants give and vendors sell for 4,000 Source.

Upgrade the Primary and Secondary Form you use first. Maxing both puts you around 50.
Then spread upgrades across the other forms, those worth +5 or +3 first.
Some top upgrades need materials found only in the Unknown, the last zone, so expect to finish this there or after the story.

Vendors also sell materials once their zone's level is high enough.
