Ghost of Tsushima Guide & Roadmap

Ghost of Tsushima's platinum takes one journey through the story, followed by finishing the island's quests and activities. You play Jin Sakai, a samurai fighting the Mongol invasion of the island of Tsushima in 1274. Nothing in the base trophy list is missable, so you can explore freely and return after the ending. Most of the hours go into clearing the map.

  1. 1Get equipped and follow the main tales

Choose whichever difficulty suits you. Easy counts for every base-game trophy, and you can change difficulty later. The golden quest markers are Jin's Journey, the main story. They open the island's three regions in order: Izuhara in the south, Toyotama in the middle, and Kamiagata in the north. Work through Jin's Journey as those missions appear. Several main tales can be done in any order.

Speak to a merchant early to receive Traveler's Attire. Wear it when exploring to help locate Records and Mongol Artifacts, the documents and objects collected around settlements and camps. From the map, press to choose what to track, then swipe up on Touchpad to call the Guiding Wind toward it. Follow golden birds too, as they lead to nearby places of interest.

Keep a stock of Supplies, the currency used for equipment upgrades, and collect materials from camps before leaving them. Prioritize the katana and Sakai Clan Armor. The latter comes from the Act 2 main tale Ghosts from the Past and is different from the Samurai Clan Armor received earlier. You will need its standoff bonus later. Honor Arrow Peak Shrine in Izuhara for the Charm of Inari, an equipment charm that increases the Supplies you pick up.

Blue quest markers are Mythic Tales, optional stories that award techniques or equipment. Doing them as they appear makes the main story easier. Silver quest markers are side tales. You can finish them now or leave them until afterward. Keep manual saves in several slots as you progress, so you can return to an earlier mission if a quest stops progressing.

  2. 2Free the island and finish its tales

After the ending, use the red markers to find the Mongol-occupied camps, farms, and strongholds still standing. Their main objectives appear when you enter, and clearing every site frees the island (Silver TrophyMaster Liberator). Some places are liberated within quests, and the southern farms only become occupied after Act 1, so an incomplete early map does not mean you have missed anything.

Loot camps for upgrade materials while clearing their objectives. Visit a swordsmith to finish upgrading your katana (Bronze TrophyThe Perfect Storm). Do not confuse optional bonus objectives with the main tasks required to liberate a territory. Freeing hostages or destroying a powder cache may be part of the main requirements, so killing the visible soldiers is not always enough.

Each fully liberated region loses its map fog and displays question marks for undiscovered activities. While there are still enemy groups nearby, knock an enemy off a high ledge and let the fall kill them (Silver TrophyHave a Nice Fall). This is convenient at a camp with a cliff or watchtower, though it remains possible later.

    Side tales and Mythic Tales

Follow the silver markers and finish the character quest chains as well as the stand-alone side tales (Gold TrophyHelping Sword Hand). Your Journal records completed tales. If everything marked is done but you are still short, check the cabin near High Point Guard Post in Kamiagata and the bamboo forest near Yarikawa in Toyotama. Two easily overlooked side tales start there.

Finish the blue Mythic Tales across all three regions (Silver TrophyTeller of Tales). They are a separate set from the ordinary side tales. The last northern tale only becomes available after you reach Kamiagata. Completing quests and territories also takes you through the duels, so check unfinished quests before searching for a missing opponent.

  3. 3Visit the remaining places and finish your trophies

Use the question marks and your Collections menu to finish the outdoor activities:

    • Rest at the springs, compose the haiku, follow foxes to their shrines, and finish the bamboo exercises (Silver TrophyBody, Mind, and Spirit).
    • Climb the Shinto Shrine routes and honor their altars (Bronze TrophyFavor of the Kami).
    • Rekindle the remaining coastal towers after completing the main story (Bronze TrophyLight the Way).

You only need twenty Records and twenty Mongol Artifacts, rather than every item in either collection. The Collections menu counts what is left. Activities on Iki Island do not count towards these.

Trophies you may not have yet

Stay in free roam and use Any time for the requirements below. They can be completed whenever their equipment or location becomes available. Most other combat milestones fill while finishing quests and clearing the island.

    • Defeat five enemies in one standoff (Bronze TrophyAll in the Wrist).
    • Bow at ten different hidden altars, identified by their small bowing signs (Bronze TrophyHonor the Unseen).
    • Equip the outfit that recreates the legendary thief once you can reach Kamiagata (Silver TrophyCooper Clan Cosplayer).

Hidden altars do not appear as ordinary map markers, so clearing every question mark will not finish that requirement. You do not need another ending or a second base-game run.

Story spoilers: a visit after Act 2Show

Once A Reckoning in Blood is complete, you can return to the marked grave east of Yarikawa Stronghold and play the required flute tune (Bronze TrophyDirge of the Fallen Forge). This visit can wait until after the ending too.

  4. Beyond the platinum: Iki Island

Iki is a separate expansion, accessible from Act 2 by tracking Journey Into the Past in Journal → Tales of Iki. Finish Tsushima first for this route, then play Iki's story, clear its four camps to reveal the map, and finish its side tales and activities. Follow Iki Island preparations for the equipment and unlocks worth arranging.

Complete the tournament at Fune's Refuge before shopping for dyes. The two Mythic Tales provide equipment used by other island activities. The five required unwritten encounters have their own checklist under Bronze TrophyCommon Courtesy. The encounter about retelling Legends is not required.

  5. Beyond the platinum: New Game+

Start New Game+ after finishing Iki so you carry your equipment into the extra run. Easy+ is sufficient. Re-equip your gear and charms at the beginning, then follow New Game+ to buy from the new merchant and replay the main tales. Optional territories and side tales do not need another full clear.

  6. Beyond the platinum: Legends

Legends is the separate online mode with its own classes and gear. Complete the nine story missions on Bronze, build your classes toward rank 20, and improve Ki, the power rating of your equipment. Use Legends to track the goals, including Gold Survival, the three raid chapters, and Rivals. Arrange a coordinated team for the raid. These trophies do not count toward the platinum.
